celebrating lumen field’s powerful steps for ocean health
Lumen Field, home stadium of the Seattle Seahawks and one of Protect Where We Play’s first movers, made a power play as this year comes to an end: achieving TRUE Gold Certification for zero-waste sustainability programs. Over a one-year period they diverted more than six million pounds of waste from the landfill! We couldn’t be more excited for them and all the amazing work the organization has accomplished in 2025.

On the topic of amazing work, earlier this year Lumen Field led a cleanup on Myrtle Edwards Park. They teamed up with Puget Sound Restoration Fund, a International Coastal Cleanup partner, and collected 67.43 pounds of trash for a total of 535 pieces of waste in just two hours. All collected debris was logged using the Clean Swell app to support global data and drive long-term solutions! Check out the recap video below.
